It's impossible to understand why a country and a people continue to refuse to do the right thing, something that could have been done a long while back.
Yes. Indeed.
And, that is how Haaretz writer Merav Michaeli begins an insightful essay - one that compliments the insights of Josh Marshall, Andrew Sullivan and Ms Livni since President Obama delivered his address to the Nation last week and AIPAC, yesterday.
Only one additional quote and then perhaps all of you will follow the link and read the simple message Merav Michaeli has penned, and ponder it:
The reality is that Netanyahu never wanted or thought to initiate change. When he was elected two years ago, he understood that in order not to initiate change, he would have to play at negotiations that lead nowhere. But alas, there was nobody in the White House who would play this nice little game with him, and his true colors were exposed: He wants settlements, he wants occupation, he wants the situation as it is and sees no problem with it.
Demographics are the real issue for any hope of a democratic, Jewish State. That is simply a concept Netanyahu and his gangsta Likud are incapable of comprehending.
Unless, other Israelis who do comprehend that obvious parameter can muster the necessary support to lead Israel, the gangstas will destroy what President Obama is courageously striving to enable them to achieve - a genuine democratic, Jewish State.
You can lead a horse to water ....
