Senator Obama has created a field.

It is ever more a potent attractor because of the intelligence, creativity, empathy, commitment, fortitude, courage, selflessness, kindness, ... of all those aggregating and collaborating to sustain and enhance opportunity for not just Americans but humanity.

It's just that simple.

It's just that powerful and it will bring us all together to be so much more than any one of us ever expected we would experience.

(This is an adaptation of my Sunday newspaper column on the art scene in my town, which you can find here:  http://www.showmenews.com/...  While the topic pertains to creative types, I think the same principle applies to all of us in regards to persistence and faith in our political activities and opinions.  I thought I'd revise it a little and share with my fellow Kossacks.)

In this hard political time, Sister Rosalie Bertell, a mathematician who's become a leading global campaigner on the risks of low-level radiation, talks of how courage can be contagious, and inspire us all for the long haul. In this essay for my political hope anthology, The Impossible Will Take a Little While, Bertell concludes with a story that's inspired me since I first heard her tell it twenty years ago: of Moses being carried by a vision of the promised land even though he'd never himself be able to reach it.

I've always remembered it as a model for all of us trying to keep on for justice over the long haul. Thought Daily Kos readers would appreciate it.
