56 Years Later, NH Citizens Once Again Lead The Way

Sat Dec 29, 2007 at 04:53:01 PM PDT

In January, 1952, Senator Henry Cabot Lodge led the Draft-Eisenhower endeavor in New Hampshire. His efforts, along with Governor Sherman Adams and the citizens of New Hampshire, culminated in General Eisenhower winning the NH Primary without campaigning.

New Hampshire citizens are preparing to make history, once again, and thereby lead the Nation to focus on the most compelling, qualified, and internationally respected candidate since Eisenhower - Al Gore.

Al Gore: Now More Than Ever

"I haven't ruled out the idea of getting back into the political process at some point in the future.

...if I did get back, it would be as a candidate for president, not in any other position." --CNN Nobel Interview/December 11, 2007/Oslo

Why Gore?

There is no presidential candidate in American politics today who is more experienced and more respected by world leaders. Al Gore possesses the maturity, the judgment, and the leadership to provide a new vision and a new direction for our nation and the world.

Why Now? Time is running out.

• If we want Al Gore to run, we have to tell him now in unmistakable terms.

• A significant groundswell of grassroots support from ordinary Americans can persuade Al Gore to run.

• Al Gore listens to voters, not to polls or to pundits.

In November, 2004, the Union Leader published an article describing the events of 1952.  Suffice that the following is what I hope will be the type of coverage all Americans and citizens everywhere else will be reading on 9 January 2008:

The results were a major national news story. The New York Times printed an entire page of editorial reaction from more than 40 newspapers. The Denver Post editorialized: "The big noise in the New Hampshire vote was the proof that Eisenhower doesn't necessarily have to be here to get votes. Taft was not merely beaten; but was demolished. Out of this first test, the Eisenhower forces have emerged with the evidence of their candidate's appeal to the people."

Happy New Year and my personal gratitude to every person in New Hampshire, and elsewhere, diligently working to have Al Gore's name appear on more 2008 NH Primary ballots than any other candidate's.

disband?  I thought it was over about 5 weeks ago?

At this point, it seems like it's just laziness to not decide between the strong field that is running for president on the democratic side.

Al Gore is a scholar and a statesman.  I agree that New Hampshire plays an important role.  I actually like it that we've got a couple states that get meet the candidates close up and personal before the cold media blitz.

If you get a chance, stop in on my diary a few slots up!

    That best!
